Data sources
Historical match results, half-time scores and match statistics (shots, corners, fouls, cards, referee), Football-Data.co.uk's free CSV archive, 1993/94 onwards. Current-season fixtures, results, the official table, lineups, match events, squads and head coaches , API-Football. Player, manager and referee reference biographies and photographs, Wikipedia and Wikidata. Ground coordinates, OpenStreetMap Nominatim.
We do not publish expected-goals figures for this division. No free source covers the second tier reliably, and we would rather omit a metric than present one we cannot stand behind.
Sync schedule
All external data is copied into our own database by background jobs. No live third-party API call happens during a normal page request. News feeds are polled every fifteen minutes. A full fixtures-and-table sync runs nightly at 03:00, with a lighter poll every ten minutes between midday and 23:00 to pick up results as games finish. Lineups are fetched hourly for the next twenty-four hours, since they are usually published about an hour before kick-off. Squads and head coaches refresh weekly. The historical archive is re-checked weekly for corrections, because the source updates on Sunday and Wednesday nights. A health check runs every fifteen minutes and flags any job that has not completed within twice its expected interval.
How the table is computed
Where an official table is available from our data provider, we show it as published and store a dated snapshot so the table can be replayed as it stood on any given day. Where it is not, chiefly for historical seasons, we compute the table from finished results: three points for a win, one for a draw, ranked on points, then goal difference, then goals scored. Computed tables cannot reflect points deductions applied by the league, so a historical season involving an administration penalty may differ from the official record. Where we know of a deduction we note it on the season page.
Division shape: 24 clubs, 46 matches each. The top 2 are promoted automatically, positions 3 to 6 contest the play-offs, and the bottom 3 are relegated.
Head-to-head policy
A club-versus-club page is treated as indexable once at least three meetings exist in our archive. Pairings below that threshold are excluded from the sitemap and tagged noindex, follow, so we are not asking search engines to index a page built on one result. Head-to-head records cover meetings in this division only, a tie between two of our clubs in a cup competition, or in a season when one of them was in a different division, is not counted.
How our articles are produced
We should be straightforward about this. Our articles are drafted by a large language model, working from reporting published by established outlets, and are attributed to one of five named writer personas that represent a beat and a house style rather than real individuals. Those personas are described on our authors page.
The pipeline has automated constraints rather than a human sign-off on each piece: drafts must work only from facts present in the source material, must not reproduce sentences from it, must attribute transfer reports rather than assert them, and are rejected outright if the subject is not a club in this division. Hero images are generated, not photographed, and are deliberately generic, they do not depict identifiable people, real kits or real crests.
What that means for you as a reader: treat our match facts and data pages as reliable, because they come from the sources listed above. Treat our articles as a summary of other outlets' reporting, and follow the attribution if a detail matters to you. If you find an error, please tell us, corrections are made promptly and the article is updated in place.
Affiliate links and advertising
Some pages carry advertising, and our betting page carries affiliate links. Those links are to operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission only. We earn advertising fees from the brands we review, and those fees may influence the position and ranking of providers, and the scores we give them, on that page. They do not influence editorial coverage, match reporting or any of the statistics elsewhere on this site, and we do not list unlicensed operators whatever they pay.
